Velomärt Basel is the oldest and largest single day bicycle market in Switzerland: every year one thousand used and new bicycles are traded and find new owners and users.
Velomärt Basel is the big event for bicycle enthusiasts. Browse hundreds of used and new bicycles, do a trial ride and get professional advice from our expert volunteers. Or put your own bicycle up for sale. You’ll be pretty sure to find a buyer.
Velomärt Basel is a non-profit event, organised by volunteers of Pro Velo and Verkehrsclub (VCS) beider Basel, the two biggest cycling friendly associations in the area.
Not least: enjoy the market atmosphere at the Velomärt: Relax, meet friends, have a cup of coffee and a piece of cake in the Coffee Corner.
Information for Vendors
If you want to sell a bicycle you must use the easy online check-in process:
– open an account HERE and register your bicycle
– print the label and the bicycle list (Veloliste), fold it twice, wrap it around the handlebar and attach it using a stapler.
– bring your bicycle, label and list along to the market. Please note that the bicycle list is your receipt. Keep it with you at all times.
– you can sell up to 3 bicycles per person
– Reception is open on Friday between 5.30 and 7 pm and on Saturday between 10 and 12 am (9 – 10 am exclusive access for members of VCS or Pro Velo). Important: bring an official photo ID!
– Direct payment to your bank account via IBAN! Just register your IBAN and adress in our webapp.
– If your bicycle hasn’t been sold, come back on Saturday between 2 and 4 pm to collect your bicycle.
– If you don’t have a IBAN, come also on Saturday between 2 and 4 pm to collect your money.
Has your bicycle been sold, and you can collect your money? Stay up-to-date with our app. Save the link on your smartphone so you can check whether your bicycle has already been sold. We keep a sales fee of 12% of your selling price.
Information for Buyers
If you want to buy a bicycle:
– come to Velomärt Basel on Saturday between 10 am and 4 pm
– as a member of VCS or Pro Velo, enjoy exclusive access
to Velomärt Basel from 9 am! (see home)
– choose from hundreds of bicycles
– go for a trial run
– have your questions answered by our expert volunteers and mechanics.
If you are uncertain about anything, always get a second opinion.
– pay and take your new bicycle with you
(all cards accepted except American Express and Diners).
– keep the label of your (new) bicycle. The qr-code leads you anytime to the receipt.
